Tips for a Good Practice & Where to Start

Whether you're completely new to Pilates or have been practising for years, it's easy to slip into unhelpful habits when working out at home. The good news? A few simple shifts can make a big difference.

Our classes are designed to bring you the clarity and quality of an in-studio experience, wherever you're practising from. With thoughtful teaching, clear cues, and purposeful movement, you can feel fully supported on your mat. And with a little awareness, you can take ownership of your own practice too. Here’s how.

Creating Space for Your Practice

Our classes are designed to bring you the clarity and quality of an in-studio experience, wherever you're practising from. With thoughtful teaching, clear cues, and purposeful movement, you can feel fully supported on your mat. With a little awareness, you can also take ownership of your practice. Here’s how.

A little intention goes a long way. Here are a few gentle reminders to help you get the most from your time on the mat:

Make space to move

Clear a comfortable area around your mat where you can stretch out without knocking into furniture or feeling restricted—just enough room to move freely and feel relaxed.

Set up your screen

Position your device where you can easily see and hear the class. Sometimes a small adjustment makes all the difference.

Choose what feels good today

Go with a class that feels right for your energy, body, and mood—there’s no ‘should’, just a sense of what feels most supportive.

Take your time

Pause when you need to. Breathe. Check your starting position before you begin each movement—this sets you up for better alignment and a smoother flow.

Move with purpose, not pace

Pilates isn’t about doing more or going faster—it’s about feeling into the movement, staying connected, and moving with care.

Set a calm tone

If you can, choose a quiet time and space where you won’t be interrupted. A peaceful environment helps you tune in and stay present. It can awaken and energise you for the day to practice in your pyjamas as soon as you get up, or for a restful nights’ sleep, just before you go to bed.

Stay with your form

Alignment always matters more than range or reps. Listen to your body and come back to the foundations often—they’ll serve you well.

Rest if you need to

If you're feeling unwell or fatigued, it's always OK to skip a session or simply breathe and stretch. Your practice will be here when you're ready.
